I was hoping some of you could give me some sad/depressing songs to play on the guitar. Acoustic or electric but preferably acoustic.

Well, I don't know if there are all that depressing, but this is all I can come up with.
"Live Like You Were Dying" -- Tim Mcgraw
"Leader of the Band" -- Dan Fogelberg
"Goodbye My Lover" -- James Blunt
"Good Riddance" -- Green Day
Sorry - I don't listen to a lot of depressing music. :o

Don't worry. I shred.

alright let me rephrase this. The lyrics dont have to be the most depressing thing in the world. I'm looking for a slower, darker sounding songs. Its more about the sound than the lyrics. When I say darker I mean not peppy, and lower pitched, and I dont know. Its hard to explain and I'm not sure this explanation helped at all. lol. sorry

Not me. I've had my heart crushed by a brown-eyed girl! I consider it a very sad song. :o

Wisemen- James Blunt...maybe it just makes me nostalgic
Dissapear- Dream Theater...Devastating, but with a little hope at the end
Tears in Heaven- Eric Clapton...On account of his badass first name :D
Tuesday's Gone, or Freebird-Lynyrd Skynyrd...EVERYONE knows these ones
Dust in the Wind- Kansas...Great Fingerpicking
38 Years Old- The Tragically Hip...It's a whole story
Lost Cause-Beck
Nearly any song from Black Label Society's "HAngover Music"
Have fun being depressed. :)

For life is quite absurd and death's the final word, You must always face the curtain with a bow
Forget about your sin - give the audience a grin
Enjoy it - it's your last chance anyhow.

If you're going for depressing acoustic songs, go with Nick Drake. Even his happier songs make you feel like you've been punched in the gut. He used a lot of lower tunings, which I think you said you wanted. They should keep you busy, they're pretty tricky to get the hang of.

"American Pie"-Don Mclean
and maybe
"The Eve of Destruction"- Barry Mcguire

I just started working on a cover of Alanis Morissettes "Mary Jane"... for some reason I love that song... It's got a depressing feel to it... But here's some others:
Zzyxz Rd. - Stone Sour
Down, Down, Down - Joe Satriani
Through Glass - Stone Sour
Fade to Black - Metallica
Nothing Else Matters - Metallica
The Dance - Garth Brooks
Friend of a Friend - Foo Fighters
Excess Baggage - Staind (this is one of the more depressing songs I've ever heard...... and it's super easy to play)
Pretty much any of the ballad-type songs from Staind and Aaron Lewis... particular Outside and It's Been Awhile... I'm not a fan of their new stuff though.
Comfortably Numb - Pink Floyd... Gilmours guitar playing in this song really conveys the emotion of the song. Brilliance
I can't think right now... I need to be back at home where I can see my collection.

Soldier Side by System of a Down has a darker, sad kinda vibe to it. It picks up a little though. Also, Lonely Day by the same band.
"During this line, the kid acted like he was pushing buttons on a calculator in the air. The kid played ******* air-calculator!"

When I was eating supper last night my brother was playing some of his mp3s, and this song called "Say Goodbye" by Skillet came on, and for some reason it depressed the hell out of me so that I almost couldn't eat. It might have just a been a one time thing, I'll have to listen to it again, but check it out anyway.
You go outside and practice screaming. We'll play music while you're gone.

"Fire, to being whipping dance of the dead, blackened is the end, to being whipping dance of the dead, color our world Blackened."
