Yes, as long as you play those notes, you`ll be playing an A minor Pentatonic.

Also, if I am soloing to a song using the Am scale as long as I stay with the root of A I can play any of those notes in any sequence and it should still sound good on the ear?


Yes, if the chord progression is consistant with the scale, it`ll sound good.

The best way to play scales all over the fretboard, is to learn them in small patterns. Here is another pattern for the A minor pentatonic.

Second Position:
