One thing I've noticed with active pups like those are that they make any guitar sound the same, whether they are in a Predator or a Les Paul....

That's just my ears though.

It's true in most cases... Acitve pickups tend to rob the tone of the wood out of a guitar... however... before you go and buy this take a look at how much you're going to spend...

Guitar: Not sure how much a Peavey Predator goes for but... lets say $100
Pickups: You're looking at $150 for a set of Zakk Wylde EMGs... which is the 81/85 set.
Neck: Depending on the dimensions of the neck pocket of the predator you could be spending anywhere from $100-300 dollars... If the neck pocket isn't a standard strat pocket your only option would be to buy a Warmoth... which are PRICEY...

So in the end you're looking at spending between $350-550 on a guitar... Not to mention the costs of having everything installed... if you don't do it yourself... and if you do it yourself, the cost of the solder, the solder iron and all that... if you don't already have it...

If it's really what you want to do... go for it... If you want that EMG tone... I suggest just buying a Zakk Wylde Epiphone LP or something... it's going to be about the same thing even though it has the passive EMG HZ pickups in it...

True Dat!!!

I personally wouldn't spend that kind of money to fix up a Predator. I've got a Predator and it just collects dust. It was given to me by a drummer I know. The body is cracked, pretty close to breaking in half, Ha....I've always said I'm just gonna play one song with it on stage and smash it or set it on fire or just throw it out into the crowd...

i have an schecter also and the reason i was wondering about the predator is i like the schecter sound but want emg's. The schecter i use for clean church stuff, and metal, do u know any pickups that will do both well, i have also looked into 59's, but i dont know much about them.
