I do that when I'm tired, and I think I'm watching the movie or whatever but really my eyes are closed. One time I was watching The Two Towers and it was really late, with still a couple of hours to go. I was really tired but I wanted to watch the whole thing. Suddenly in this one scene I thought to myself, "I wonder where Frodo is now." And a voice answered me, and said "he's buying a puppy". So I asked (in my mind, not out loud) "oh, what kind of puppy?" And the voice answered again and said "close your eyes and you'll find out..." And I was like, sounds reasonable. So I closed my eyes, then I was like, wait, what the hell!?!? It really freaked me out then, and I stayed awake for the rest of the movie.
