I would have went with a different headstock design rather than the traditional Gibson but it's a nice looking axe. You did a great job on the finish... normally that's a tough one for people to get... and the carve top looks great too...

Re the finish, early on I practised rubbing out a headstock to gloss to see what happened. I did get a rub through and re dyed it, but it isn't the neck on this one. The SG is the real test piece. LOL!!

The dyeing was done following a tutorial by David Myka and Roger Siminoff's chapter on dyeing in his book on mandolins. And as I said in the blog I was just gob smacked when the flame popped and didn't dare to try to do too much.
