As far as I can remember he actualy had it dipped in chrome and not spray painted. His first attempt did not work properly, Its on one of his interviews somewhere..

yep - normal basswood body dipped in chrome. Not as nice as the Y2K crystal one IMO.... :D

Yeah... it's a process where the wood is coated with a metallica aerosol then the whole thing is dipped in chrome... Joe normally plays one of the early prototypes that wasn't successful... it's the one that looks like the chrome is all dark and worn... The process is just like chroming normal metal.

Hummm, are you guys sure about the wood thing?? I really thought I'd read that it was a lucite (basically a form of hard plastic) that was chrome plated.

I've been wrong before so..........

Ok I was wrong.............the body is made of Luthite (synthetic, I assume some kind of plastic)

Nah, it's wood dipped in chrome. They did have problems with the chrome not sticking to the wood and it started to flake off. That's Joe's main guitar, and on close up shots, you can see the clear tape he put over the spots where it's flaking off to prevent it from flaking anymore.

They may have changed to Luthite after they were unsuccesful with getting the chrome to stick to wood, but the original (3 I think), were wood...

I have a Ibanez JS1200CA and it plays awesome.
Better pickups and bridge, IMO that the older satch Ibanez guitars.

Consider one of those instead of the chrome collectors pieces.

I'm pretty sure it is a bass wood body hey
although Ibanez do make the Ergodyne series, or did make...which did have a Luthite body.
I owned one of these and found it ok, but not great
