I hate that. And it gets annoying when a bunch of friends are hanging out and someone has a guitar and they say they can play a song and they play the first couple bars of it and quit......... You don't KNOW a song until you can play it from start to finish. Make sure you learn whole songs... it will help you develope a sense of how to write songs as well... as well as teach you how the notes mesh with each... I also suggest learning all guitar parts to songs that have multiple guitar parts... i always learn the leads and the rhythms. Nothing Else Matters is a beginner song from start to finish... the solo is even one of the easier solols you can learn... Work on that song if you want... Here's a list of other easy songs to work on... remember, try to learn the whole song.

Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana along with every other Nirvana song you can imagine
Outside - Staind
Flake - Jack Johnson
Anything by Greenday
Wish you were Here - Pink floyd

Those are just some of the songs that I started out learning... Don't be afraid to challenge yourself though... And remember to always work through the frustration... You're not going to learn how to play the guitar and get good without getting frustrated everynow and then... Just work at it and know that it will come.
