Don't rush yourself mate, I've been playing a couple years and I'm just thinking of joining a band. But hey - anything's possible. I learned on an easy version of 'Sweet Home Alabama', just the chords and one of the licks. 'You Were Meant For Me' from Jewel was good too. 'Be Like That' from Three Doors Down and 'Collide' from Howie Day were easy enough. Also, check out Mel Bay. I had a tab book of that when I first started, helped a lot with dexterity.
