I have proven this myth wrong with my terrible vocal skills. That will be all! thanks and come again! ;)

Just Kidding, but really. There're soo many styles of singing it's rediculous. I feel like I'm able to sing because I can hit the notes pretty well (on some songs haha) but even when I can.. it just doesnt sound good. =/ It would be really useful for me to atleast be able to do backup vocals. any thoughts? Or am I going nowhere with this haha

try sticking to one style first...and practise always...its true some of us are born with awesome voices but some of us arent as lucky (eg. me) .. i have a very very terrible voice....its so bad that i can never stop cringing to it...but it has improved overtime...tho i still hate the way i sing cos i sound like a pop star (boy band voice)...but i still record anyway when i have a new song...im not afraid to let everyone cringe to my sound! yep

I'm on 'Ooh, Aah and doo-wap' duties with the band... leaning in 80's style with the bass player for some quality (Ahem) backing vocals...

What I do is..... stamp on my volume pedal.... :D

I can sing OK, but again, I hate my voice so a little more guitar volume works wonders....

Practice can turn a weak, thready voice into something people want to hear. Keep at it.

I agree with what the good Lord(athestrings) said. Download a book or take a lesson or two and just do the exercises that your instructor will have you do. It makes a huge difference. The voice is an instrument, just like the guitar or anything else for that matter, gotta practice and build those pipes! That is if you're not blessed with a great voice. I downloaded a pdf file that also had some mp3 files that went along with it within two weeks I could tell a difference in my voice.

So where did you find this stuff? If you don't want to post it please PM me because I would be very interested in checking that out.
You go outside and practice screaming. We'll play music while you're gone.

It's on my home laptop, so when I get home, I'll see what the size is and I'll forward it on to you, or I'll host it somewhere where you can download it.

Its sad how the vocal styles have changed. One example is there is a local venue my friends have been to. The only bands that play there are teenage screamo bands where the vocalist cant really sing but hes up there making weird noises out of his mouth and for some reason, it all sounds the same. They are covering up the fact that they cant sing by turning what they say into random garbage.

Sorry if I offended and FA fans out there.
