O.K. maybe it is, but... Lucky me that I am not shy. :)
Anyhow, I don"t know if this is supposed to go here, but i will post it here and then we shall see. Here is the thing. You know the sound on, say solo from rebel
yell by Billy Idol (Steve Stevens), when he gets that sound, uhm, how should I describe it?? Like a machine gun? It is somewhere in the middle of the solo. He uses that stuff quite often (heard it on one of his live recordings, awesome.) Similar sound is heard on Dirty Diana live from M.J., when he is performing with Slash. Right at the end. How do they do that? Is it a synth? Or a guitar with a great whammy? If so, how exactly is it played?

Good question and an amazing solo - i think it could be both a left hand and right hand palm mute combined with very fast up and down picking ?, not sure though.

I've been jamming along to rebel yell - I think it's a B5 power chord played on the ninth fret - the left hand notes are not fully pressed down ( muted ) with fast up and down strumming with heavy distortion.

That"s nothing man. Check out Dirty diana with Slash, at the very end. Wicked.
Dunno. I think it is the whammy bar, combined with some kind of effect... Dunno, really.

NO NO NO Steve Uses some kind of Guitar Sinth and or a prossesser with his rig. He used that kinda stuff with Vince Neil too. The chic in Billys Band plays more Keyboard type

Oh, that. Sorry dude, I thought you was teasing me. ;) My bad. You think it is some kind of a processor? Hm.... Too bad this thread didn"t get that much attention. Maybe someone could help us out here. Does Stevens have a page of his own or something?? Maybe there we could find some explanations...

Yep, looking at the article, that would be it... So no flashy technique, just a load of effects... Ah... (Dissapointed) Not that he is not one of the best guitarists to em at least...
