I saw a cool show on VH1 classic last night I highly recommend ya'll watch should it repeat in the near future. The series Classic Albums highlighted Hendrix's Electric Ladyland. It featured some cool footage, interviews with the band, and demonstrations of recording techniqes in the studio. Check it out!

Sweetness... I'll have to check that out for sure. I purchased a copy of the Classic Albums: The Black Album. If you're into Metallica or just into recording in general I recommend anyone from the series but particularly that one... Good stuff!

I saw that show way back when. It's definitely worth checking out if you like Jimi Hendrix. And let's be honest, who doesn't?

We don't get VH1 in Oz, so I'll have to see if I can find it on the internet or something. I'd love to see it, though, Electric Ladyland is far and away my favourite Hendrix album.

One of the cool aspects was the guy in the studio was playing back the masters, but soloing in on individual tracks, pointing out things, then bringing the rest of the mix in with it to show how it all fit in, like Jimi's vocal harmonies. And of course stories behind the recording sessions. Actually I didn't catch the whole show myself...I'll have to see if it's coming on again too.
