What the hell has the world come to? I've never seen such attention whoring in all my life. I can't pretend to know the guy and his problems but come on....YOU'RE A SUPERSTAR IN THE NFL!!!! Surely it can't be that bad? Now I know comparing one man's life experience to another is apples and oranges but I've had a rough life and suicide has crossed my mind but never have I come close to even attempting it. I find this to be a setup to sell a future book. As a matter of fact I doubt he even tried to kill himself. It's a publicity stunt.....yeah that's what it is.....He just ruined the Cowboys season by being a damn attention whore. Way to steal the show asshole.

Woah slow down now...it's all speculation at this point and he has denied that he was trying to kill himself...although i wish he would...wait, thats not nice...but i do...do i? Im gonna watch him speak live in about 5 minutes and try to get the low-down.

That's true I jumped to conclusions just as the media did but still. Hearing him talk right now he does sound sincere. Maybe he didn't do it on purpose but seeing him flash a little smile while talking about it makes me wonder if it was a publicity stunt. Hell it was his publicist that made the call. It's all quite shady to me.

You never know, with this sort of thing. Last year, when I first heard that the recently-sacked State Opposition leader had attempted suicide, I was like, "Pssh, him? It's a publicity stunt, there's no way he would actually do it." When I got home and turned on the news, there was video footage of him being rushed to hospital because he'd tried to hang himself and had almost succeeded... :( scary stuff. You can never tell for sure whether somebody is suicidal until it has physically manifested itself.

people attempt to commit suicide every day.
this man just happens to have a $30 mil contract and twice as many fans.
everybody's got their problems so don't jump to conclusions too soon.

That contract says he has to perform, and he aint doing so well. He shouldn't have been so cocky with the Eagles, I'm sorry , but serves him rite if he's in a slump.

Even though he is one of the biggest A-HOLES i've ever seen in my LIFE, he still shouldn't commit suicide. What kind of problems could he have that the only way out would be to kill himself?! Stupid...

Guys, he didnt try to kill himself. And he's not in a slump, he's injured. I do hate the guy though. Hes an arrogant bastard. I believe him when he says he wasnt trying to kill himself.

After seeing the news conference I have to say I believe he didn't try to attempt suicide. I do think he's a moron for not checking the drug mixing warnings.

When I heard the news, I was so upset I cut my wrists.

Kidding, of course. Stuff like that shouldn't be on the news. There are more important issues in the world today than speculative suicide attempts.

Yeah, it's disgusting how much people care about celebrities, or even quasi-celebrities like pro athletes. You know how many people attempt suicide every day? How many succeed? How many of them may even have been justified? Nobody cares about them. People shouldn't get so much attention for doing something lots of people do, just because lots of people know who they are. That should be in the tabloids, not the news. The news should tell us things that will affect our lives, not give us something to gossip uselessly about.

well, owens would have a reason to commit suicide. everybody had high expectations of him and on the first game, my home team (the jaguars) blew them out. i mean, whoever heard of the jaguars until then? thats a little disapointing and embarrasing don't you think?

other than that, i think it was an accident.

i don't think it was a publicity stunt. why would a man like him try to commit suicide as a publicity stunt? he doesn't need to.
