What is the minimum volume of water allowed for a small body of water to be considered a lake vs. a pond?

I guess it can be quite subjective...

Gotta love Wikipedia...lol

Pond

According to Wikipedia.. : "Though not generally accepted, some regions of the United States define a pond as a body of water with a surface area of less than 10 acres (40,000 mĀ²)."

There's a lake around where I live called Norris Lake, and it's pretty small. Anything smaller than that, I refer to as a slough.

I think if you can sail in it, it's a lake. If you can wade across it, it's a pond. And if you can't see all the way across it...it's a BIG lake. :)
