tube change
Does any body have any experiance with Groove tubes (EL34s). I replaced the stock tubes in my Marshall DSL 100 with Ruby tubes. I am not happy with the tone now. I can get the same tubes that came in it, but I want to try somthing else. I also heard of Yellow Jackets, but I am not to wise on what tubes are good and which sound like crap ie Rubys. I want that fat ass distortion that I hear from my buddys amp he has the same exact one. His sounds better for some reason.

Was the amp re-biased when you replaced the power tubes or did you just swap them out?

They were rebiased by a tech. I know he did it right, Iam just not happy with the sound after the change out. What tubes come with a stock Marshall DSL? any body know. I would know but I dropped it off and they did the change out for me, so I dont know what kind were in there to begin with. I bought the amp used and my buddy said the tubes were the original ones.

I don't like Groove Tubes. JJ work well for me.

Yep, JJs rock !! I have em in my TSL100. Biasing the power tubes in a TSL / DSL is also really easy. I have just done it with mine so drop me a line if you are at all uncertain.
One thing to note is that it is a good idea to run in new tubes in for a minimum of 8 hrs before giving them a really good listen
