What does a semihollow guitar (for example, an ESP Xtone PS-2) sound like with overdrive/distortion? I've never played one using distortion before, so I don't know.

Both of those guitarists use semi hollow bodies. They sound good.

Seems to me like feedback would be a problem.
Check out my band:

feedback isn't normally a problem with semihollows...and especially not as bad with the ibanez artcores because they have a larger center block.

semi-hollows get a gritty, bluesy sound with overdrive/distortion...i wouldn't recommend them for fuzz, though.
okay...my post is done...goodbye.

I was messing around with a Gretsch hollowbody the other day at Guitar Center. Went to plug it in at the only available amp... and the dude before me had cranked up all the gain and distort all the way and had totally scooped the mids. "GAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!" Took me two whole minutes to get the settings clean enough after that nasty surprise.

As I was adjusting and adjusting, I gathered that it could handle a bit of dirt and it sounded kind of weird/intense... but forget about anything more complex than power chords.

i hate those people who crank up at the store and don't turn it back down after they're done. i've actually blown an amp at a store when i was younger because some jackass didn't turn the amp back down after they were done testing out pushing it to the limit....or just rigging it for some poor sap like me.

needless to say, i got far away from that amp after that and acted like i didn't know anything.

note: i was plugging a solidbody in.
