POD's are great for home recording, but also work great as a tone shaping device in front of an amp. Considering you play a wide variety of styles, this sounds like it might be the right choice.

i agree it will be great for doing the different styles but the problem is changing between patches, as its only a small button. i have a BOSS ME-33 for that reson as it sounds brill and u can easily acsess loads of sounds. one idea would be to get the foot board with the pod. then u can select loads of sounds without wearing out your knees
