I kinda just got my guitar a few days go and Im completely lost.
The book that came with learning is great, But very confusing. Im learning how to read music then it jumps over to chords and then back into sheet music. It's very hard.
So can someone give me any advice on exactly WHAT I should start learning without getting confused and frustrated.
Thanks.

What do you want to learn at this point? Are you set on getting all the theory down or do you more wanna learn to play some songs? Or do you mostly want to make up your own songs?

I'd recommend getting a decent guitar magazine--one of the ones that come with a CD--because they all cater for beginners to some degree. They'll explain tablature and a few other basic concepts and from there you'll be more able to follow which ever path you choose, via the internet or whatever.

Sign up for full access on Guitar Tricks and spend the next month learning from videos, MP3's, TABs and written explanations, then use the Jam section to practice to.
When you have trouble figuring something out, post a question in the forum or email the instructor.
For $5 a month, it beats spending money on one dimensional books.

I can guarantee you'll be far better off that way.
And if ya don't believe me cause I work here, just ask any of the other subscribers.

hmm it seems that the book u got it trying to shove theory into you..imo beginners shudn dwell too much into theory as of yet...partly because of the excitement of wanting to learn a song they like and what not..i wud suggest learning basic chords first...have a feel for the guitar, build them calluses...till u get nice and comfy you'll know when ure ready for theory...tho its always a good thing to start on both in the beginning but i just reckon it tends to get pretty full on..my opinion..

and yea 5 bucks a month u really learn alot of stuff here...the vids are great... :)

yeah, dont head into theory ust yet. It'll bore you into dropping the guitar. If your dedicated, try and get a teacher. They lead you through the hardest stuff. If you do, dont only look at what they give you to study. Explore on your own.
