Tab--
6 lines
The bottom line would represent your "thick, fat, E string" or 6th string. Next line above, the 5th so on and so on.
The numbers written on that line represent the fret you would use to play the note/tone.
When you have numbers written "on-top" of each other this would represent a chord , double stop or many note played at the same time.
You would just follow the numbers to learn a particular riff, chord progression etc. ince most internet tab does not have music notation it relies upon you to understand wher and when to play the notes.
Hope that helps.

Although tabs are easy and practical it really is a form of cheating
You should learn how to read(or stick by it if u already know) classical notation
and to answer your questions this is a d in tabs
---2---
---3---
---2---
---0--- means open string
------- means string not played
-------
--xx-- means string mute
pm.............. palm mute
----
----
----
---5
---5
---3
--12b(14)-- string bend
--12h14-- hammer on
--12v-- vibrato
Sorry that all for now Bye hope it helps

What those guys say is true. Though I recommend that you learn how to read music to, if you dont already. Be wary, also. Most tabs posted on the net are plain crap. I'd have to say that 98% of the tabs Ive ever looked at were wrong. I'm not saying ever here and there theres a mistake as wrong, but where people do such an awful job that I cant believe they think the song is played that way...
