This past week and a bit has been "barn clean-up week" at the turkey barn where I work. This is turkey code for "work every day, doing harder work than usual for the same wage."
Today I was unclogging a drain, literally elbow-deep in poo and straw and God-knows-what else, when I thought "why the **** am I doing this?" So once I finished, I let my boss know I'd be quitting. I decided I'll work a few of my regular shifts into the school year (it's a weekend job) just to rake up a bit of extra cash before my sole source of income disappears, but basically, I am happy for once. I work tomorrow and Tuesday (which will be more drain-unclogging, getting-painful-lime-burns-on-my-arms-and-feet fun), then it's back to just weekends right up until my last day.
Sept. 17 = Turkey Liberation Day.

Actually I'm surprized you lasted as long as you did... I've been to a poultry barn.. and they are just nasty.. I certainly wouldn't be able to do it.
Stay in school, get good grades and hopefully you won't ever have to set foot in a job like that again...

yeah, quit and go get a job at starbucks... I dunno about where you are, but here they said they expected each employee to make about $3 an hour in just tips... plus the $7.50 an hour wages. everybody that I've talked to that's worked there says it's not too bad.

Heck, I surprised myself. By the time I actually quit, it will have been about 6 months.
I'm really in no rush to find a job. One of the reasons I quit is...well, let's just say car troubles, it's a long and complicated story. A story fit for only Pony to tell. :)
If I do get another job, I'm thinking it'll have to be in town (as opposed to the next town over, like my turkey job) so I can just walk rather than burn gas and money. Also, I'd prefer it to be an after school job, so my weekends are free for sleeping in, which is one of my favourite things ever.
But like I said, I'm in no rush. I've still got a year to come up with a life-plan so I don't need to hold down a crappy job. Luckily, my marks are pretty good, so University is my wild card. :)

Yep, Sept. 17th will be a fine day.
I actually tried to add it to the GT calendar as "Turkey Liberation Day," but apparently I have no authority on this fine website. Pffsh.

Congrats on not being stupid anymore. But you better not get an after school job. If you do, we'll have to replace you with David. And I don't want that any more than you do.
You go outside and practice screaming. We'll play music while you're gone.

Never quit a job for any reason besides going back to school or leaving to play baseball in some uncharted region of the United States or Canada... I've only had two jobs really though. I worked at a Golf Course on a groundscrew from my 8th grade summer until I graduated High School and left for college... then I got my internship at DuPont... which is where I still work...
So I give mad props for quitting a job...
