Most of the electric guitar tracks on Led Zeppelin's albums were not recorded with his Les Paul!

I have no respect for led zeppelin as far as music goes.

Well, that was one "ignernt" stretch of posts there...

Here's the facts:

  • If you actually think that one genre of music is "better" than another you have a mental defect. You prefere one genre over others.

  • Have no illusions; Country music breads a mess of badass lead guitarists. If you look outside of commercial country you actually find a lot of really good songwriting too.

  • Ibanez guitars are for all intensive purposes Fenders. Different companies, different styles, same idea.

  • Gear doesn't make the player. Sure, it helps to have a nice playing guitar with good tone, but tone and feel are individual things. My Tele gets everything from classic Tele to Strat to Les Paul tones thanks to it's neck pickup and five way selector. It has a fairly massive body and if you put your ear up to unplugged it actually has an incredible sound. Not many Ibanez owners can say that.

Finally, I might add that while Pantera was just getting started as a GLAM band, Larry LaLonde, who will admit to liking Teles was creating some serious METAL as a member of Possessed.

man you probably dont like music at all. that's it, because if you would like any possible style in the world you would appreciate fender...
any kind of musing inlvolving electric guitars can use a fender. no matter if it is metall or blues or country or 80's new wave or anything else
what is in your opinion good music? if you'll say shredding then you got malmsteen who is playing the fender stratocaster as far as i know, so think a little before saying fender sucks

First of all, Raskolnikov, i said nothing at all about any diff types of music, just individual musicians and bands. i listen to a lot of stuff and i dont think that any particular type is "better" than another with a few exceptions (jackson still sucks and i still hate country and hip hop). And as much as i hate to admit it, you are right about the guitarists and songwriting that comes out of mainline country. However, that doesnt mean that mainline country, which is what i was talking about, is any good whatsoever. Anyways, ive never heard of pantera and i dont like posessed anyways. they are right in that annoying middle where they arent hard core enough but they arent melodic enough. And Zeppelin, no, i dont like shredding any more than i like any other type of music and even if i did im putting down the tele, not the strat. of course they are both fenders. And jake, if you like jackson fact is you have serious problems...jackson may have talent but he misuses it and his overall music quality is lacking. so ill put down his music as much as i feel like it.

since im such a nice guy ill recomend an non-fender non-ibanez guitar to show that im not against absolutely everything. It is-
Gibson SG supreme(!!!). Check it out at http://www.guitartrader.com/Guitar1v1/catalog/bigimage.icl?passitemid=18937&orderidentifier=ID9993009314906F3E2525793740&srcdoc=itempg%2Eicl%3Forderidentifier%3DID9993009314906F3E2525793740%26secid%3D1021%26eflag%3D0%26numitems%3D8%26curitempos%3D8%26dirpage%3Ddir3%26itmid%3D18937%26subsecid%3D1089%26catid%3D1120.
I would put a picture of it in here but im not that nice of a guy.

Ok, you can put any pickups you want into any guitar. That means you can put humbuckers with some serious output into a Tele, even modify it to have a vibrato bridge. I suggest you take a look at Todd Huth's Telecaster... I have never seen more mods done to one guitar. So what everything comes down to is "how does the neck play," and "do I like the way this guitar sounds?" If you have any vision at all you can play any style of music on any guitar. Period.

The only resons NOT to pick a "classic" Fender is that it doesn't have enough frets, you want a shorter scale, or a set neck/ neck through guitar.

Or you'de rather have something that looks different.

you know a link to where i can see Todd Huth's tele? And anyways the main reason i dont like fenders is that when they get expensive they always cost just a bit more than they should just for the name and they all look the same. All teles look basically the same, all strats look the same, and so forth. and yes, i would rather have something that looks different.

It seems that Todd Huth and his bastard Tele are two very difficult individuals to photograph. Here's the best I could do:
