Listen to this crap. I've been playing for 28 years, almost the entire time in one band or another. So we get this friggin know it all soundman (Who has zero experience) tellin me how its done. For the love of God why do peeps think they can read a book and learn all there is to know????

Why do you need a sound man?? Why can't you just do it all yourself... Then you don't have situations like that...... I do all my stuff unless a venue that I'm playing has their own sound man... In that instance... they know more about the venues sound system than I could pretend to... so I yield to them... But yeah, I don't need someone to tell me how to set my own equipment... Lose the extra baggage, I guess that's what I'm trying to say... haha.

Yea well, it's not absolutly necessary, but it's a nice thing(usually) cause its one less thing to worry about during a show.
It reall wasn't my idea anyhow. This whole band has gotten out of control. The drummer is a great old friend who has not played for many many years. So this "band" was started to get his chops back into shape. The idea was to have a three piece. Guitar and vocals (me) bass player and the drummer. Now we got this chick singer (again not my cup o tea) and an annoying sound guy that read a friggin pamphlet and thinks he should now be doing FOH fo stadium shows.
I'm just blowing off steam is all.

Ah, the joys of dodgy soundguys. I feel your pain, man.
I've played in one place where the soundman turned me down so low that I was actually entirely inaudible. I put up with him for about 3 years, maybe more. I was doing kinda like session work and had virtually no say in the final mix.

Maybe you can encourage him to leave... tell Soundman that he has to get dressed up for the job. Leather cycling shorts and a chainmail shirt with SM (for SoundMan of course) written on it... maybe one of those Village People hats and a stick on moustache too. He also has to stand in the front row close to any potential moshing and take abuse from the band in the form of beer bottles and glass ashtrays hurled from the stage (all part of the live 'show' of course) :D

Well, I did it.........I quit over this stupid a-hole sound guy wanna be.
It's all for the good. I'll just get my chops tightened up an join a more experienced band. I have a very low tolerance for stupid people.
If I ever see this guy running live sound, I'll be very surprised.
