modelling procesors vs. workstations
what exactly is the difference between the two? or even better, if anyone could compare the digitech RPx400 and the digitech GNX3000, that would be great. basically, i just don't uderstand what the difference is between them, i've read the descriptions a bunch, and still need some help on the topic. thanks!

Between those two, the "workstation" doesn't really mean anything... it's just a name they added to it to make it sound more sofisticated. They both do the same thing, but the GNX3000 has a lot more amp models and effects and such, than the RP400.

Generally a "workstation" is a processor that includes a stripped down multi track recorder of some kind... An "effects processor" is generally just that... an effects processor.... that's the only difference I can equate...

I've never tried a ' workstation ', but I have the Digitech Artist RP100R modelling guitar processor.
There is no hum or hiss which makes it ideal for digital recording, its output however is too loud for the mic input of a PC, so i've added a very simple inexpensive volume control ( 470Kohm potentiometer ).

Ive got the GNX3... Its alright I guess. you can do a buttload of stuff, and you can change so many different parameters and mix so many different things together at the same time its rediculous. you cant really customise like that on other Multieffects of the same price.
everything but the mod effects sound fake though. their distortion is real muddy and fuzzy.
