as for the nicest shred guitar,I'm gonna go with most people here and say "whatever feels and plays bets to you". My personal favourites include the Parker Fly Mojo, and Ibanez Rgt2020 (which is kinda like an Rg, but gorgeous mahogany (or Ash) wings, on a purple heart and walnut (I think) thru-neck...really toneful, fast guitar...I find the standard basswood Rg's toneless, and the same with the Jems)



wow, someone else who likes the flies. i only have a p-38 but it works great for what i do. i'm not much of a shredder as much as more playing chords and occassionally some bluesy solos...more of a songwriter type. i've been eyeballing the PM20 pros lately...if you haven't checked them out, i'd suggest you do...great guitar if you want to go more the les paul route but want more features (like locking tuners and coil tapping and a nice superfast smooth ebony fretboard).
