personally i find it quite hard to shred well on a strat due to the fat neck and the curvy fretboard radius. but that just might be because i aint used to it. i feel mor comfortable playin blues and chordy stuff on a strat.

but then again Yngwie Malmsteen plays on a strat and ne is dam fast.
