Well, since this is my intro thread, I might as well introduce a little about Singapore. (today 9th Aug being our independance day).
Geo notes: It is an island a the southern most part of the Malay Penisula. It measures about 42km from east to west, and 24km north to south.
Music scene: There is an unspoken rule to suppress all heavy metal and "rock' music since it is STILL being associate with drugs and violence. The 'heaviest; stuff you can hear on public radio are songs like Smoke On the Water. Forget Megadeth or the early Metallica stuff and don't hold your breath for Iron Maiden or Dio to be on radio. There is not even good-"clean" Satriani on the airwaves.
One exapmle of how ball-less the radio stations here: they always , without fial, fade off the ending gtr solo for Purple Rain and Still Got The Blues. Really pisses you off, right?
I have written in a few years back and the reply was "not enough listeners to justify a All-Rock station".
Well, when I went to the 2 concerts by DP and Malmsteem, It sure looks to me that there are enough fans around :)
Anyway, it is really hard being a rocker in Singapore, most ppl don;t know what all the noise is all about and think syou are anit-social or have some mental illness if you like 'that-kind' of music.
BUT, at least we have lots of spicy food and a whole lotta sunshine all year round :)
