I picked up an Ibanez JS1200CA recently cause I don't have any pointy headstock guitars in my inventory. :D

After owning Strats for the last 25 years I wanted to check out something completely different. After playing and dialing in the new Ibanez for about a month now, I gotta say this Satch signature JS1200Ca is quite a nice guitar and I am able to get lots of different tones from this thing.
Anywho, I was fooling around with the Satch tune, Super Colossal and decided to give the new axe a recording test to see how it sounds on tape.

I always go with a melody for my lead breaks.
I don't really shred so don't expect any sweeps or monster arps.

I like how the JS1200CA sounds recorded so far.

I haven't heard the original as far as I remember, but your version is really good. :) Cool tone, too.

Can't hear the bass though. ;)

I forgot to kick the bass player and wake him up. ;)

He owns a bass, that's about all I can say about him. :D

Really nice tone you got there, I looked at getting one of those axes myself but went with the Jem, suited me better. What you got in your setup? I can tell you've been playing for a long time, even though you're playing a cover theres definitely some of your own style elements coming through. Nice work!

Thanks Super, I have been playing off and on since about 1966.

Probably more off than on. :)

In reality, I didn't start getting the hang of it all until several years ago.

Appreciate the feedback, I'm learining new stuff every day.
Still got a long way to go. :p

Edit: The setup is
JS1200CA Guitar -> hand made tube pre amp -> Computer sound card -> Guitar Rig 2 amp software -> Acoustica Mixcraft mixing program.

Hi EL34XYZ,

A laid-back version of Satch's tune. I like the way you stretched the note at the intro.

The solo, I think, is better than Satriani's. The notes are clean and the melody is so classy it is like breathing fresh air after spending the whole night in the bar. On the original one, Satriani is quite predictable.

(please don't flame me, Satriani is one of my alll time fav, I am only comparing on this situation only and it is purely my personal opinion)

No flame, I like the melody too.

I suppose I would have done a shred solo if I could, but I can't, so I don't.

Glad you liked it.

Awsome tone and great playing. The only problem I have with cover songs is that I'm a stickler of them played as identical as possible, but your version is still awsome.

Thanks again there for having a listen, glad you liked it.

I hear ya on the cover thing there elk.

I usually do things from memory and try and throw in personal touches here and there when possible.
My brain usually scrambles the originals and so I never nail them exactly or I am too lazy to copy them.

I figure I can listen to the original if I want to hear the original.
Just my personal opinion on covers.

Haha, I do the same thing. I'll start playing something and I'm like hey this is the part in.... then a I go and listen to the song and its way off.

As far as bands doing covers I perfer it to be their own style, just that when its just someone's jamming, I'm not a stickler for a tickler (if that makes sense, I just threw in a Family Guy quote.)
