Been here a few days,
Lovely Place.
What is the best song ever written in your opinion?

Well, will go with "Fake plastic Trees" Radiohead
"She looks like real thing
She tastes like a real thing
My fake plastic love" and the best line "If i could be who you wanted"

I have always thought these guys are a revelation.

Cheers.

I'm fairly simplistic thataways...I guess first to mind for me would be something by Pink Floyd, either Another Brick in the Wall, or Money, or maybe even Time/Breathe.

Religion!!!!
Was reading a book "Inside Al'qaeda global network terror" chapter "Al qaeda's Organisation, ideologies and strategy" and there was this quote by that chap
"A word of truth with a tear of allegiance"
then
"An infidel like you can not be in the same hell with his righteous executioner"
This is religion, these chaps are crazy, have read up to 3 chapters but still cant understand there cause.

Not sure I can even say what the best song ever written is... in my own opinion. To me songs are a lot more than words. Any song that successfully conveys an emotion and makes you feel what the writer wants you to feel is a well written song in my book. There are way too many...

Define best written. I know you mean lyrics, but I mean there are a lot of different type of categories you could look at a song being the best written. You could view the lyrics like a poem. Or it could be a popular song that a lot of people can relate to or something that is your favorite.

If I were going to look at songs like poems and also keeping in mind what artists and genre I like... I'd probably choose:

"Barnacles" by Ugly Casanova or "Third Planet" by Modest Mouse (both the same songwriter, Isaac Brock.

Yeah, i was gonna go on and quote the next three from the song, but i decided against it as i didnt want to insult anybody who is religious or cause a big argument about it.. the type of thing that happens when i like something....

and sorry to be taking this so off topic.. but there is no cause or real reason for them to do the things they do, although it's extremeism and ****, it is completely out of the 'laws' of their religion and therefore makes no sense at all...

Anyone seen the ads for the new 9/11 movie coming out. Should be interesting, in some weird sentimental way.

Motives? Not really...just that it's directed by Oliver Stone if that says anything. I think it says in the trailer that it's based on a true story, or something to that effect. Well duh. But I believe that's stated cuz it's more like a focus of an individual group of firefighters, some of which survive the collapse.

Yeah,i agree.
I would say a good song is one that finds you in a certain state of mind, and a mere listen to it changes the state of your mind.

It's based on (and barely veers from) the true story of, I believe, a firefighter and a police officer (could be 2 firefighters?) that survive the collapse of one of the towers. Supposedly the movie is suppose to follow exactly the way the two men told the story after they were pulled from the wreckage. If you're going to accuse a movie of making money off of a national disaster... accuse Pearl Harbor. Cheesy plot lines, bad conveyance of history... and generally an over production of what could have been and should have been a Saving Private Ryan'esque film... It didn't accurately depict anything.

I want to go see World Trade Center before I make any other opinions on it.
