Hey, does anyone around here like Robert Johnson. I discoered his magic a week ago now he's my favourite guitarist. He plays rhythm and lead at same time and sings as well. Btw 1930's delta blues style
If you don't know him that a cat o nine tail for you

I did a report on Robert Johnson for music class last year. I don't much like his music overall, but he sure can play guitar. He's friggin' amazing.

He is essentially the tip of the root to the family tree of notable guitarists... He inspired most every early guitarist... they inturn inspired the next generation and so on... It's safe to say he grandfathered blues and rock and roll...

If you're into Robert Johnson... and you like Eric Clapton check out Claptons album full of Johnson covers... I think it's called "Me and Mr. Johnson"

He was indeed a greatly talented artist... but then again... anyone can be talented after they sell their soul to do the devil right? haha... Another interesting tidbit... it's rumoured that he died of Syphilis... although his death certificate simply reads "No Doctor" as cause of death.

The man was a genius!
"It's all folk music... I ain't never heard no horse sing!"
- Attributed variously to Leadbelly and Louis Armstrong

If at first you don't succeed, you are obviously not Chuck Norris.

Actually, that's just one of the theories. It's pretty much a mystery how he died. Syphilis is one of the more likely explanations (given his promiscuity), but it's also been said that he was poisoned by the husband of a woman he was seeing.

he cheated! He didn't work to get good at the guitar! He just met the Devil at the Crossroads and sold his soul! Haha, just kidding. I'm a R. Johnson fan too.

There are some really funny/interesting legends surrounding Robert Johnson. He used to play harmonica with a famous blues dude,(i cant quite remember the name), and he picked up a guitar and played it for the blues player and it sucked horribly!!! Then he went away for about a year or two, came back, and he was the great blues guitarist robert johnson that we all know! So people came up with legends saying he sold his soul and other stuff. Their some others but that one was one of the best legends.

She was a huge influence on Mia Zapata from The Gits. They have a live cover of "Graveyard Blues" on the re-release of Enter the Conquering Chicken or Kings and Queens (I can't remember off of the top of my head).

If you're ever wondering what a solid rock/punk/alternative band with a gutsy, bluesy female vocalist sounds like, I highly recommend them.
