I find all the distortion sounds in the digitech rp-80 to be crapola. I want to use my amp distortion. Here's where the problem comes in. I turn on the distortion on my amp and the amp sounds terrible. Even when i have it on bypass-nothing.

Is this a characteristic of this pedal or is mine broken? Anyone have a similar experience?

I've never used the RP-80, but I suspect that the pedal switching is not 'true bypass', in that the guitar signal still passes through part of the circuit when the pedal is turned off.

I auditioned a DigiTech Bad Monkey, and returned it the next day because of this problem. Sounds great when its ON - major tone-sucker when its OFF.

Hmm, I love the distortion sounds on my RP-80, and I have the sh***iest guitar and amp imaginable... perhaps you just need to fiddle with the EQ a bit. Or perhaps I just like the sound of terrible distortion :D.

You should post some settings for Eric to try out Jiujitsu.

Good idea - I'll post them this afternoon.
