You wanna' hold the pick it is up to your style but the preference is more to comfortable. Some may hold the pick this way

with your left hand.
And again depends on what kind of songs or music do you play. Say, lead and rythm is different from the way you control the grip to hold the pick especially when playing lead, you need to find out which is the best position, which is more comfortable and smooth, which is more accurate when picking and less sloppy sound created. And not to forget, your palm that hold the pick must also be flexible and must be in a comfortable position. Comfortable is up to you... less sloppy, less injury, smooth and easy for you pick to move from string to string.
