HEllo everyone,
A friend and I are starting to put some nice riffs and beats together but the only problem is we do not have a bassest. I want to know if anyone knows of a good device that I can use to creat the bass line for in the back round. We are not worried about getting someone to play bass right now. I have a 1000 bucks I need 4 mics/mixer/cable and if possible something that can be programed for the bass lines.

When I'm recording at home on my own, I use a midi keyboard through Sonar to control a bass vst instrument - maybe a midi keyboard is the way to go?

I could just use sonar direct, and click on notes in the timeline with the mouse, but it would be harder work. Do you use a PC? I don't know of an alternative, but then I always use my PC! :D

If you're kinda jamming live, and need something to be a pretend bass player, I don't have an answer....

uh well. if you're willing taking the time to program something, you might as well just buy a cheap bass and record bass lines with that.

you could also buy a cheap synth and do it with that. I reccomend the Korg MicroKorg. great little synth.

You could probably use a keyboard that has a bass patch programmed on it.

Dude,

Looking over the original post and the replies. It appears to be a simple solution. If $ is no object buy a bass and create your own bass lines, record them and your done.

If you've got $1000, just buy a bass player. They're kinda whores that way.
