i'm really interested in getting Drumkit from Hell as my drumming software. can it be used with any recording/mixing software? if it can't, which ones does it work with?

I'm not familiar with that software.
I'd suggest taking a look at Smart Loops before you decide though. It used to be called Drag and Drop drummer. Very easy to use with any software.

I highly reccomend this software.
Been using it for quite a while and it sounds great, plus it's easy to use.

Acoustica is a great, small company that puts out some awesome programs for not much money.

I have both DFH and DFHS (Superior) - the difference between the two is huge. Definitely go for the Superior version, it integrates directly into Cubase as opposed to the other version which you need Halion, Battery, Gigastudio or another of the big samplers to plug into before patching into your sequencer. DFHS acts as a VST plugin so you can program directly into the midi window. You don't have to use Cubase though, just anything that can handle VSTi's. As far as the sound goes, it's great plus it's easy to use and set up (unlike DFH which is a lot more fiddly). Toontrack have another package too that may also be worth checking out, I believe it's cheaper and even easier to use plus it's getting really great reviews - EZ Drummer (you can also get DFH in this format).
