Avenged Sevenfold is the most kick-ass band besides Iron Maiden, Metallica, and other metal bands. They've taken the guitar to another level where metal, shredding, flamenco, and neo-classical styles are combined to make the most amazing songs. Sure they scream, but listen to Synster and Zacky...How amazing their guitar playing is.. :)

The only Avenged Sevenfold song I've heard is "Bat Country". I didn't really like the lyrics much, and the guitar work was all right, but not as good as I expected. What are some of their better songs?

how can you judge a band after hearing just one song?
i have their city of evil album, every song is different.
i recommend in no order: sidewinder, strength of the world, seize the day, unholy confessions, bat country, trashed and scattered, betrayed.
and yea.. i just listened to the whole album to compile this list.
they're not all scream. in fact bat country's the most screaming they ever did.
and seize the day's guitar parts sound alot like slash.
sidewinder's ending has alot of flamenco
strength of the world has a unique intro for a rock song

Yea, A7X doesn't do much screaming anymore for two reasons. One is that the singer personally didn't want that much screaming on the Waking the Fallen Album, and none on the City of Evil Album. The second reason is that he had throat surgery recently and cannot scream very well. When I saw them live at Warped Tour last year he couldn't scream the old songs very well. I personally like A7X and like the work they did with their latest 2 albums. But I do think that the Zacky and Synister act like guitar heros when in reality their really not.

They are a great band, gotta give them props. I don't think they will last long in the spotlight though...

are you kidding me? here in jacksonville, they are so famous. everybody knows who they are and some of my friends who don't listen to alot of modern metal think they're gonna go down in history. but thats just where i live.

Ummmm....try again? They did a lot more screaming before Bat Country. Besides, their singer is actually PHYSICALLY INCAPABLE of screaming on Bat Country because of his throat polyps. That song has an awful melody anyhow.

So did I :). But, as regards how long Avenged Sevenfold will last, I'm guessing they will be forgotten before long. People are already beginning to get sick of metalcore, and before long, most of the bands from that scene will be in the toilet, IMO. I think that the ones that survive will be the popular old guard (Killswitch Engage, God Forbid etc) and the newer ones who take a more idosyncratic approach - and unfortunately for Avenged Sevenfold, their niche in the market is more competently filled by bigger bands.
