Back in the day it was pretty much just wah and fuzz. An Arbiter Fuzz Face or a Big Muff were the most likely stomp boxes, with a Vox or Dunlop wah. Electro-Harmonix had some strange things available then, but they were considered to be 'gimmicky' by most. Most of the effects were studio tricks applied after the tracks were recorded.

Acid Rock is a style. Any gear you use to create it is OK.
