I'm having trouble with the effects loop on the 5150 head. I just want to add some reverb and delay. I've followed the manual and it still isn't working. What happens is that the volume of the amp drops dramatically when the loop is on but returns to normal when you turn it off with the footswitch.

Any ideas how I can fix this

thank you

Have you tried adjusting the volume/level of your effects? just a thought! i have to adjust my effects accordingly if i alter my amp volume.

I've tried changing the volume on the effects. Basically when I say the volume drops, I mean if you turn the amp volume up to full, you can just about hear the amp with the reverb.

I'm not real familiar with the 5150, but does it have a knob on the back for "effects level", or something like that. My Marshall's have that.

Also, check the batteries in the effects pedals. Just b/c the light is on doesn't mean it's getting the power it may need.

One more thing, are you using stereo cables going in the loop? Not sure if this would cause the problem, just trying to think of things that may be causing it...Probably don't want to use stereo cables.
