can someone tell me...?

What is the meaning off Radius as applied to the fretboard? I thought it had something to do with the curve of the fret board from side to side. I saw an advertisement for a axe that had a 9.5" radius..... I saw another one with a 12"radius..............? :confused:
while i'm at it does anyone know the difference between ceramic and AINiCo
humbuckers. :confused:
