Hi guys (and girls?)

I also have a really big problem with feedback, so if anyone can help, i would greatly appreciate it. Here is the thing. I play an Ibanez GSA 60 through a BOSS ME 30, then into a LANEY HCM 30 R.Then into a mixer. Whenever my pickup switch is in position 1,3 or 4 (looking from neck) i get feedback. in positions 2 & 5, this is not the case. Can anyone help me on this matter? I have really big problems with this especcially when playing in smaller spaces. Sorry for any typos, i"m from Croatia, so my english is not so good.

Step away from the speakers. Mute the strings you aren't using.

Actually, i am standing behind the speakers. and i still get feedback. Could it be because of the monitor? I am standing rather close to the monitor, but i dont think that is it. Drummer has all of his drums on microphones, and he gets no feedback. and he is always close to me. i dunno.
Come on guys, help me out here, PLEASE!!

if its openback, theres just as much sound coming out of the back as the front.

the reason a guitar has feedback is the pups picking up sound waves that youve already been playing, then sending it back, so it goes in a circle, making feedback. you just gotta find a place or position that wont do it.

They are not open back. But I will try moving around, thank you for advice.
But if anyone can answer this, hoe comes I only get feedback when my pickup selector switch is in position 1, 3 or 4? And i hardly get any when it is in 2 or 5?
But Thank you rockonn91. I will try finding a spot where it doesnt squeal.

oh, okay... what I would think was that position 1 is the neck pup, 3 the middle and 5 the bridge.

so what I was thinking as I read that would make sense: when just one pup is selected, notes would naturally feedback, because there arnt any other pups to even it out. when its at positions 2 and 4, more than one pup is selected, which would allow somewhat of a humbucker effect- that some of the feedback is reduced.

but you are saying 4 feedsback alot for you, and 5 doesnt. which doesnt seem right to me. did you switch the numbers accidentally?

Okay, sorry if I didnt make myself clear. My pickup configuration is SSH.
So when my pickup selector switch is in position 5, only humbucker is active.
And i get no feedback then.

[QUOTE=z0s0_jp]get the boss ns-2 and never worry about it again. ;)

Yeah, i have checked it on bossus.com. But, you know, there are times when i DO want some feedback, like when you strike power chord for intro than gradually add gain until it squeals. I"m not sure if I could do that with NS-2.
Anyhow, I think I got it though, I know why I get so much feedback. It"s the equalizer on the amp. If i turn it up too high (loud?? whatever is correct)
especially mids and treble, i get feedback. cause I already have equalizer on the mixer set up in that manner. (So shoot me, I like my sound very bright. :) ) Anyhow, I think this is where the feedback comes from. I should
put the eq flat on the mixer and mess with the amp. Or other way around.

But thank you very much for your help guys, I really appreciate it!!
