All:

Anyone know where I might find a wiring diagram for a late 80;s early 90's ibanez? Have no idea what model.

It has two humbuckers, one volume switch and a three way...thats it. The volume switch doesn't work and when I popped the cover I noticed that a few wires were cut and some had pulled out of the solder joint.

I am wanting to rewire this beast and have yet to find a guide to help. Let me know if pictures are needed and I can snap a few.
I use heavy strings, tune low, play hard and floor it. Floor it. That's technical talk.

Here's a link to the wiring diagram section of the Ibanez site. You'll have to go through them to find the one you need...

Thanks for the post. I have looked at that site unfortunatley this guitar is much older (they only go back to 94). I guess I could try and a close fit to mine as I doubt they have changed too much. Problem is finding one with dual hums and one vol nob and a 3 way. I find penty with tone controls but I don't have one on this axe.

Will do some more investigating...thanks again

Tone controls simply bleed off treble by shunting the signal to ground through a capaitor. Just leave it out if you don't want it.

If all you want is a master volume control, run the 'hot' lead of each pup to the selector switch inputs. Connect the switch output to the volume pot terminal that the centre terminal is connected to when the pot is turned fully clockwise. Connect the centre terminal of the vlome pot to the 'hot' terminal of the jack. Connect the 'low' wires from the pups, and the remaining terminal of the pot, to the shield terminal of the jack.

I suspect that if wiring has been cut that maybe some components ( pots, switch ) could be faulty...........

I once owned a Gibson SG and from your description - the wiring diagram is similar or identical.

I would be interested in some photos of the wiring and components - especially the earth wires - sometimes all the components are bolted through metal foil ?

Do some research in >GuitarNuts< wiring section. You will discover that most guitars come out of the factory wired in ways that make them easy prey for noise. You want to reduce noise, not encourage it.
