well you know what? as long as that guy from freelicks.net is selling all those dvds that include bonus lessons of copyrighted songs and making cash from it, and my stuff is completely free for everything, i don't care.

hey i added one video. go check it out. youtube made it a lower quality than it originally was but it still works. i'm still working on it, i have to edit the other recordings i made and put those up. wow this is hard work.

I swear, some day I'm gonna move there.
Looks like he's paying a monthly licensing fee.
Wonder how much it costs.

How many clubs/bars have you gone to and the house band plays "brick house" or some other poular song. Nobody is sueing anybody for this, and the band playing is getting paid (so $ is changing hands).

Isn't that all you are doing when posting a "tab" of how you play a certain song? But with out the fee?

Hell it's not like Pure is creating Napster.....Or is he????????? (You sly dog you).

This is like music theory, Politics, and gossip all rolled into one.

But sure is fun to rant and rave about !!!!!! :D

Actually, I've heard of bars and pubs preferring bands playing original music so that they don't have to pay the performance fees to a "Performing Rights Society" type organization.

Check it out

And another, US based case
... and that's all I have to say about that.

It actually depends on the bar and the clients that frequent it.

Some bar/club owners do prefer originals only. Some clubs/bars actually prefer cover bands becuase the clients tend to stay (and buy more drinks and food --this is where the money is for the owners, not cover charge etc) if they hear songs they know. Some patrons may not prefer to hear original music.

I have personally never heard of any kind of fees an owner has to pay to have a cover band play, except paying the band. I worked on 6th street in Austin in my youth and not once heard any owner mention additional fees etc. (but that was over 10 years ago) maybe things have changed.
