I just installed an EMG-81 into my JS30RR Rhoads guitar. I put the battery between the switch and the tone knob. However, I'm still getting a large amount of buzzing. Do I need to sheild the battery to get the buzz to go away, and if so, how do I do that?

I think its (the wiring) is not grounded well enough. I have one of those pick-ups in one of my Guitars and I dont have a shield problem all I have between the battery and the pots is a piece of cloth just to keep it from rattling.

as damaged says, fist word ull hear is "ground"...
check ur all parts (pots, pickups, jack, etc...) grounded well...
if it still continue look for ground loops (grounded things twice n long way), n terminate them...
