I pulled out a whole bunch of old 8mm camcord tapes from storage and found a video from about 15 years ago of a really old group that me and my brother played in before my he died, (1990?) plus another tape of me doing a lead solo contest in Toronto doing a real early version of MoogBoog (1988?). I didn't even know the tapes existed cause I don't even remember doing any of this stuff. ... musta been the drugs :)
I'll convert em and post em for a laugh if anybody's interested.

1988 was a good year, i was born... what more reason do you need?

I'd die if my brother died. I'm sorry to hear yours did. I love finding old stuff though, like pictures and whatnot.

It took me like 10 minutes to load, but that one of you playing solo is really cool. I had no idea you were so good! Well, I did, I'd just never seen it with my own eyes.

EDIT: Ok, I just watched the second one. That's awesome stuff. I love the lame dancing the businesspeople in the audience were doing.

Yeah, I know..... I'm sittin here laughin my ass off. How the heck do you dance to 'High Class in Borrowed Shoes'??
That's my brother on drums btw: major piss off that he died before we could form a proper band. I use his picture for "Schmange" now... so if anybody's confused about my avatar on Guitar Tricks, that's why.

Embarrassing story about that solo gig. It's at a huge bar of like 1000 people and most of em are bikers and goth girls. As I'm sitting there with a whole bunch of these biker guys before the show, one of the girls who worked there calls out really loud "Is there a Kevin Taylor here???"
I look at my brother wondering what the hells going on.. so I put up my hand and all these tough guys look around at me.
She says "Your moms on the phone for you... she says you forgot something"

Talk about embarrassing... I get up and go the phone "MOM... how could you call me in front of all these people??"
"Well there's a pedal here... did you forget it?"
"NO MOM.... I left it behind on purpose"

Anyways, I go back to sit down and all the biker guys and goth girls are snickering and smiling at me and my face turns beet red.

Later after I did the solo, I went to go back to say thanks into the microphone and my lguitar cord got stuck on something and almost wrenched my guitar outa my hands... that's why I stopped halfway to the mic and shouted "thank you".

Anyways... I won so who cares

It was a really dark night, with high winds and the power was out everywhere.
He was driving home on his Harley and there was supposed to be a roadblock on the way to our house. A tree on town property had blown over and was blocking the whole road... just lying right across the bottom of the road at the bottom of a hill.
For some reason, the cop just let my brother through the roadblock without even bothering to tell him anything was wrong. (we still don't know why he didn't stop him or if he was even at his post)
So my brother went down the hill and ran head first into the tree going about 80 kph. His bike flew up the hill about 100 yards and he went flying backwards on his back & almost tore his head off.
The cop and township was totally at fault but we were screwed for suing em because it would have meant mortgaging everything we owned to pay for the lawyers, so they basically got away with it.

The whole thing kinda knocked me for a loop for a couple of years cause we were just starting to work on a new band and build a studio.

Dude, i look up to your tapping skills. I can't believe I'm even talking to you.
sorry for your brother. that cop must have felt pretty bad for letting somebody ride to their death.

Well... there was a slightly 'get even' type of thing that happened a couple of years later.
The wife of the cop who let my brother through the roadblock, died in a car accident a couple of years later right after they got married and he quit the force.
I feel sorry for him and everything but there was part of me that was thinking 'good... now he knows how it feels' There was also part of me thinking 'thanks' to my brother for getting even from beyond the grave.

Probably a nasty way to think or feel about the whole situation on my part, but I can't help it. I know for a fact that the cop wasn't doing his job that night and it was his responsibility to block traffic from using that road.

Yeah... that whole thing with Fox hit me particularly close to home.
There's no way you can imagine what it's like until it happens to you personally.

Your Human and as Jesus said "let ye' who is with out sin cast the first stone..."

Your feelings are normal. I am sorry for the loss (no matter the time--also for lil' fox {can not even imagine}).

Peace
