Later in the evening
As you lie awake in bed
With the echoes from the amplifiers
Ringing in your head
You smoke the day's last cigarette
Rememb'rin' what she said

if randy would have lived, van halen would be nothing. randy was tapping before halen even recorded his first album.

but guess who can play the crazy train solo (me)...

by the way what song is the one you're talking about?

But Halen's tapping was far beyond even some of the most diciplined tappers now.

Rhoads was more of a soloist and a musician rather than a showman and shredder.

yea but if randy would have lived he would have developed it. and if van halen would have stepped up with his so called "new technique" then rhoads would have shut him down.

rhoads could shred. he just chose not to shred 100% all the time in every single song.

Except for "Mr. Crowley". He overdid that one a bit, IMHO.

Taking absolutely nothing away from Randy, but EVH was the first tapper of the two. RR was more classically inclined than EVH. Both are great talents though.

EVH is rightly credited with changing how rock guitar was played. Aside from being a great player, Eddie's an even more distinguished breed of guitarist as an innovator. He developed a style that many, many others followed. As great as RR was, he can't be given that honor, but he was definitely better than most of his contemporaries. And a nice guy, too.

well thats simply because Eddie=performer, Randy=Musician.
I'd listen to randy over eddie any day, but if you're talking about a live show, I'd go see eddie

i agree. although randy was a frigin genius on the guitar he didnt have the image of a shreder that VH had, which was a big part of his fame, other than his playing.
