One of the reasons why I sent in a solo was because I noticed that there where a couple of fellow Aussies already participating :).

The other reason was because the backing track and best solo belonged to a kiwi :D. I had to try and do something about that.

Cheers,
V.

I'll listen to everyone's solos as soon as I get a chance. I'm using a pay computer up at the skifield I'm working at right now and I don't get any sound....it sucks :(

It's cool that we've got a some new people posting their solos, cheers guys :)

equator,

Really really good work man. I especially like what you did in the chorus, it sounded great.

Soundclick isn't being nice to me. I can't click on any of the links on any Soundclick page--not in Safari, Firefox, or Opera. Used to work ok for me.

Anyone know what's wrong now?

I tried getting on to SoundClick after I found your message in my Inbox and checked on a couple of links and didn't encounter problems. It could've been maintenance and lot of sites seem to be doing it at the moment.

You will have noticed that there is a sort of 'chorus' in the middle, which is still in G minor, but here are the chords for that:

Gminor/C7/Fmajor7//
Gminor/C7/Aminor/Dminor
repeat once.

I've posted up a quick sample solo on my purevolume so take a listen to that to get ideas, I'm using the Gminor Dorian and Pentatonic/blues for the whole song. I didn't do much in the chorus though...I'm sure you can go wild.

This solo has by FAR the best phrasing of all these entries.

Hello All,

Being new to this forum, how do we go about voting for our favourite solo at the end of the month. Does someone post a link to another forum to begin voting? And when is the winner announced?

I know I won't win or get a single vote for that matter, it's just that I have a definite favourite and don't want to miss out on the opportunity to reward that person with a vote.

Regards,
V.

Pretty crazy, but I was listening to the jam track at work and heard a melody line in my head which I was able to crappily translate on the guitar. I've never recorded anything significant, but I just got a GT-6 and thought "what the hey, I can do this now, so why not". I'm a pretty sloppy player, and not a perfectionist at all when it comes to recording (I would be, if I knew more about the software and was a better player). I try to shrug it off by saying that I'm a more natural than technical player, but the proof is NOT in the pudding.

I purposely didn't listen to any other takes so that I wouldn't be completely depressed and unmotivated to record my own.

Anyways, enough rambling.

if that doesn't work, try

... and that's all I have to say about that.

I liked it Eggman. Santana-esque. I wanna hear more in the months to come.

GT Solo Assignment is now legendary.

Wow.... just wow...

A little (tiny) bit too shreddy for me, but the groove was awesome. Loved the tone and vibrato, too...
