2nd arpeggio thread
how exactly do you form arpeggios ? are they just every third note in the scale? what are they and what are they used for? i know i could just look it up but its funner to ask questions.

pick a chord. any chord. good.
now look at all the notes in that chord.
now find those notes going in order on the strings
not pick a position thats easy to play and the same note on the same octave is not played.
sorry i cant find a better way to explain it.

Arpeggio is playing the notes of a chord one after the other instead of simultaneously.
They target the notes that make that chord.

Say you have...
A minor chord any minor chord.
------5---------
------6---------
------7---------
------7---------
------5---------
----------------
In stead of strumming the chord just pick the notes......
---------5------
-------6--------
-----7---------
---7-----------
-5-------------
----------------You have an arpeggio.

It's not quite like that, here's a Dminor7 chord and it's arpeggio:
----5-------------------------------------5-----8-----
----6--------------------------------6----------------
----5----------------------5----7--------------------
----7-----------------7-------------------------------
----5--------5----8-----------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------
the notes of the chord are D, F, A & C. You play all those notes in order up the arpeggio.
Here's one for Cmajor7
--------------------------------------------------7--8--
----8-----------------------------------------8---------
----9-------------------------------------9-------------
----9----------------------------9---10-----------------
----x------------------7---10---------------------------
----8-------------8-------------------------------------
I chose to do arpeggios for 7th chords because 7th arpeggios are actually easier to play and sound cooler anyway. Here is in my opinion the coolest sounding arpeggio of them all. the Minor add9 arpeggio, I'll do it in Dminor starting from the 3:
-------------------------------12---13------------------
--------------------------15----------------------------
---------------------14---------------------------------
-------12--14--15--------------------------------------
-------12-----------------------------------------------
---13---------------------------------------------------
it just sounds so great! I use it all the time. You can move it to be in whatever key you want.

Close enough for what I do but what you said could help me out a lot. Right on Julian.
