has anyone had any experience using the tc electronics g major effects processor? i have heard from several people that it makes your tone sound sterile, is this true? does it come with a footswitch? does anyone suggest any other effects processors?

I used one for a while, and was able to get some fantastic tones from it. You have to buy a footswitch separate. Which, can run you anywhere between $60-$600+ depending on what your needs are. There are several other rack effects units out there that you should look at before deciding on the G-Major. Some people love it and some people hate it. Do a lot of research on them before you make a final decision, though.

I have a G-Major, it's ok for what it is.

I have a hand made tube Stereo pre amp that feeds the G-Major, out of the G-Major to a hand made Marshall 18 watt Stereo power amp, out of the power amps into two cabinets, a 4 x 12 Marshall and a Custom 2x12/2x10 cabinet.

It sounds pretty damn good to me, maybe cause the G-major is surrounded by very nice tube gear.

Here's the Stereo Pre-amp info. Two pages of info with pics
