What song are you currently working on and why?

What is keeping you up and giving you nightmares about this song?

"Satch Boogie"

I first heard this when I was 15. Blew my Mind (whole Album for that matter). Did not have the chops at the time so put it on the back burner until about 1 month ago (many moons later) when my 16 yr old son wanted to learn to play it.

Tapping part at end has me sweating bullets.

Er... I'm going to my guitar teacher's place on Sunday to record some of my songs in his proper recording studio (no more mp3 players for me! ;)). As for what I'm working on - I don't really "work on" songs note-for-note so much anymore, I just learn the main progressions and the most recognised lead lines, if there are any. I've been playing around with "Inspiration" by the Gipsy Kings (with some success) and "Cannonball" by Soulive (with fairly little success).

If at first you don't succeed, you are obviously not Chuck Norris.

i'm a newbie at guitar and thus i can play any simple punk or rock song but metal always seems to get the better of me.

I'm making a fairly slow feeble attempt at Speed Metal Symphony. I think a year, year and a half I might have most of it at least close to par.

Moose,

"Am I Evil"/Mettalica would be a good one to work on after you finish "Fade to Black".

It doesn't have the speed of most metal but the basics are there and it would be a great chop builder for more heaveir shredding songs later down the road. My 2 cents.

I have a hard enough time learning my own material these days and since I'm in a few bands, some of which are pushing me with deadlines, so even if I wanted to learn someone else's music I really don't have the time anymore. Whenever I start to learn a song (or do anything at all that isn't related to the guitar) the first thought that comes to my mind is "I've got priorities." Seriously, right now is about the extent of the time I don't spend on music these days. I've got two of my bands wanting my attention tomorrow and I've got a third one (if you can call a 1-man band an actual band) releasing a split that isn't done being written. Where the hell do you all find the time to do anything?

I am always working on a few things at once...right now its the Randy Rhoads solo off of crazy train, Steve Vai's Eugenes trickbag (the dual off of crossroads) and Mood For a day by Yes...I have been working on that Eugenes trickbag for years, just do a tiny bit more every now and then

Well time is a luxury we all can't afford. So it is alot of Coffe, Tea and 3-4 hours of sleep.

Also I have about 2-3 students and they keep me always learning.

well, I need to work on about 12 songs for this band I joined today (see my "yayyyyy!!!!" thread) I learned like 4 of them in under an hour, and the other guitarist already knows all the lead stuff, I just need to play the rhythm stuff, which for the type of music that it is, is three power chords..... other than that, I'm usually not learning any new songs when I pick up my guitar, it's usually writing licks that I always forget the next day.

I've been fine tuning some of my own tunes (stay tuned for possible recordings)
I've been having a blast playing iron maiden's 'hallowed be thy name'
And every saturday night i quickly go over the praise songs i'll be playing on sunday.

That sounds fairly accurate to how the weekend ended up turning out. I'd ended up working on writing material until after midnight and discussed ideas for it with one of the other members until about 5:30 in the morning when we were both too tired to keep talking... then I woke up at about 10:00 only to repeat the process again... sort of.
