Digitech Vs Boss

Right well heres the thing... I was looking at the Boss GT8, and its realy sweet! I especially like the thing where you can turn the amp models off. But then i was looking through some old magazines and i saw the Digitech GNX4... And i was really drawn to it... Reviews are good, but what i really like about it is the whole built in 8track reorder, so i was wondering, which would be better as a whole....?

I once was the proud owner of a Digitech GNX4. It was cool at first, having the onboard 8 track, the drum machine. Being able to use it as a recording device to my pc. But something was missing. The tone. I never could get the tone I really wanted, I tried the discs that guitar3456 sells and these patches were better but the tone was still so digital I couldn't stand it. Another thing with the GNX4 was the fact that the PC would drop the USB connection from time to time right in the middle of a recording session. So, I sold it and bought myself a Boss GT-8. It also has a patch editor for your PC but you have to download it from the boss forums. Some guy made it and it works really well. Anyway, the Boss seems to have better sound, not so digital. I like the fact that it has more effects, like the dynamic picking and such. I also like how it has a seperate effects loop and you can put the effects in any order you like. I'm glad to be a GT-8 owner. The Boss GT-8 beats the digitech GNX4 hands down in my opinion. Someone else here on the forum said this once. The GNX4 does alot of things but none of them really well. So, true.
I am a constant evolving music machine. Oh Man, I just forgot what I was playing. Oh well, on to the next song.

i love the gt-8 as well. i like the 1959 marshall sound w/ a little delay. the tri-amp sounds good as well as the 5150 lead tone.
all line 6 stuff sounds heavily digitally processed imo. digitech....meh.

well. Ive got the Digitech GNX3. and yeahh, its pretty digital. you can tweak it like crazy in tons of different ways.
Boss... it always has had good quality. I love their stompboxes.
the POD live tho... It really does sound good. I played one through a PA system once... beautiful. i really reccomend doing some more research on that one.

in most cases, boss is going to have a much better sound than digitech. the only exception ive seen is when boss doesnt make a certain pedal that digitech does. digitech may have more options, but youll never be completely satisfied

Yeah I took a Pod Xt Live over the Gt8, to me it just sounded better...I'd look into it before you buy anything else...

I think I was the first to ditch the GNX4 in favor of the GT-8.Its effects selection and overall sound just strikes me as better.Line6 is a real contender.Line6 nails amp models, but ive yet to be overwhelmed with there effects selection, variation and sound.
I have my GT-8 running through my firebox or out of two roland DM-20 monitors.Sounds are clear and clean. Its the only floor board I would trust to take a beating too.
