i'm learning 8 fingers tapping, but i'm not sure how to tap a string

here's the tab:

T T T T T T T T T T T T T

------------------12-14-15-17-15-14-12-----------------
-7-8-10-12-13-15-----------------------15-13-12-10-8-7

where i put 'T' do i need to just tap the string or do hammer. cause when i do hammer it sounds very quiet (especially on 15 and 17 fret) and when i tap string it sounds much louder.
what's tehnically right?

the T is a tap. for this, i would play it this way: with the Capital letters being the left hand's fingers and the lowercase letters being the right hand's fingers.

------------------12-14-15-17-15-14-12-----------------
-7-8-10-12-13-15-----------------------15-13-12-10-8-7
(I)(M)(R)(i)_(m)(r)(i)_(m)_(r)(p)_(r)_(m)(i)(r)(m)(i)_(R)(M)(I)

i'd start by hammering on the first three with your left hand, just leave them there and tap on the twelth, thirteenth, and fifteenth fret. leave your ring finger on the fifteenth as you tap on the twelth fret E with your index. then tap up and down that string, leave your finger on the E after you tapped it as you tap the D on the fifteenth fret B sting. then decend all the way.

and thats it. hate you burst your bubble tho, its only seven finger tapping. :o

oh. okay, I went overboard didnt I?

um yeah. technically you will be hammering on all of them, since you wont be picking any. you just hammar on with your other fingers, then pull off the same way. that way its a smooth tapping legato. It will be soft at first, so you just need to work on tapping down forcefully.
