If you really want to get back into playing, try listing at your local music store in FT. Lauderdale for bandmates. There are always local people looking for bands, and i hope everything goes well for you man! Good Luck..

Go to that site...you can set up a free account to tell the world about yourself (or better yet...your home town.) This site allows local musicians to search for other local musicians with the same interests. Kinda like a guitar dating site! :D

I am a 40 year old guitar player and I find it really difficult to find other people to jam with there seems to be some sort of idea that I am some sort of wierdo they all sem so young. Even this sounds like I am looking for something else! All I want to do is play, my guitar that is.

You should also try checking out some open mics, you'll find lots of stray musicians there.

Starman,
Everyone doesn't think you're a weirdo! There are some that respect you! I'm 24 and was in a band with a guy that was 52. Ilearned more about guitar from that one guy than from anyone else previous...plus he could rip it up!

I would'nt worry about your age or how young the group,
is; your going to play or gig with.
One of the groups i play with has a Bassman in his,
20s Keyboard guy in his 30s Drummer in his 40s,and i'm,
60 ....................................
If they like your stuff plus you; most bands don't care,
about your age.
I also jam every once in a while with a few metal bands,
that are in thier late teens.
Just look at all the sixtys lead guitarests that crossed,
over from Rock' to country Rock in the early 80s and thier still working with big name Bands.
