Well, here's the thing buddy. I'm not going to tell you. Know why? Because you have to get out there and try them out! Every amp has a different sound and characteristics that different people will like for different reasons. My opinion of the best amp is probably completely different from yours and everyone elses, except for that the best amp is the one you like playing on the best. Get out there, try some out, maybe you don't want any of these amps and you'll find a completely different one that you love. Who knows what could happen? Have fun on your quest, and get the amp that is right for you, not that someone else says is right for you.
You go outside and practice screaming. We'll play music while you're gone.

Acapella is right. Nobody can tell you the exact amp you need. Check out the guide I wrote about finding the right amp. You can find it as a sticky thread at the top of this section, or go to this link >here<. Hopefully that will give you a little better insite on how to look for an amp.

True, but let me just say the HD 147 is better in all aspects than the Spider II HD. Other than that, play them all out and see which one you like the best.

well as far as I know, the HD 147 is the real deal when it comes to modeling. Dont get me wrong, I have a spider II, and it rocks like hell, but its not much compared to the 147. Its much more versitile, and sounds more thicker, and warmer. Yea, I know its a modeling amp, so how can I say that, well I cant. It just something you feel. There are much more models to choose from and alot of them do emulate classic and modern tube tones much better. Spider II is an exelent practice amp, but if your gonna get a modeling head, the 147 is a better amp.

But I do understand the HD 147 is MUCH more expensive than the Spider II. Its about $1300. Thats a whole lot of money for a solid state amp. Therefore, you may want to look into a nice tube head. This is just my opinion, if the Solid state amps rock your socks, go ahead!

dude, as far as I know, the 147 and the Jcm900 are way out of the league of a SpiderII.
The spiderII's are great.
The others seem to be geared towards professionals (Ben Moody formerly of Evanescence used the Hd 147...and countless guitarists use Jcm900's) where as the Spider II is an affordable option for amateur/semi-pro guitarists.

I would go for the Jcm 900 personally, but thats just me...I'm sure both the Hd147 and SpiderII have their merits...and if you do find that the spiderII is just waht you need...then congratulations, you just saved yourself a whole wad of cash.
